By behavioural research we mean research conducted to understand how human behaviour can manifest, the antecedents or causes of behaviour, its consequences, as well as the contexts in which the behaviour is enacted. Centre-UB isn’t solely focused on behavioural change, although some of our research is about changing behaviour and designing, implementing and evaluating behaviour change interventions.
Behavioural research is conducted by social scientists but also by researchers from other disciplines (e.g., computer science, law, history, the arts). We are funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, therefore, our researchers use social science methods (qualitative and quantitative) in their study of human behaviour (quantitative and qualitative). As a centre, we are particularly keen to support research that crosses discipline boundaries and some of our researchers also use methods from neuroscience and computer science.
