Jake Groves

Training Fellow

Jake Groves is the Training Fellow at Centre-UB, where he supports the design, delivery and evaluation of training across the Centre-UB network. His work focuses on creating practical, engaging and relevant development opportunities for PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, staff and external partners.

Jake has 20 years’ experience in education and professional learning, including almost a decade at the Birmingham International Academy, University of Birmingham. In this role, he worked across teaching, programme coordination, curriculum and assessment design, staff development and academic communication, with a particular focus on authenticity, engagement and real-world communication.

He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds an ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring. His professional interests include researcher development, communication, confidence, coaching, public engagement and the changing nature of learning, assessment and professional practice in the age of AI.
