Professor Kate Bedford

Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Representative

Kate is an interdisciplinary social science scholar with a background in political economy, development, socio-legal studies, gender/sexuality studies, and gambling studies. She is interested in how law and regulation shape the behaviour of different groups of people. While law is often assumed to be a simple tool for behaviour change, Kate is leading research into how laws aiming to protect people from harm can sometimes backfire, especially for already marginalised groups.
